Construction begins for Boeing-funded school

Thanks to a generous grant from Boeing Company matched by longtime Vietnam Children’s Fund supporter and friend, Mr. H.L. Lenfest, an elementary school is being built in Tan Uyen, Lai Chau Province.  High in the northern mountains, the project is not far from the town of Sapa, which has recently been attracting foreign tourists.  Although an airport is planned, at the present time the area can be reached only by overnight train from Hanoi.

The first step was to demolish several of the old dilapidated structures to make room for the new VCF school.
